Keetmanshoop – Departure and Ride to Windhoek

4 hours, 45 minutes, 500 kilometers (300 miles)

Stupid Tire Pump.

The day before, I was doing some maintenance….

Replaced the left mirror mount that melted in Mexico. The right one was repaired in Bolivia using a spool of wire I found in a parking garage, that one I am keeping!

I added a kill switch for the Innovv camera – that’s the front and back camera. It will run forever when parked if there’s movement. Wind is enough to kill the battery.

Replaced the velcro on my tank bag. The design of this thing is not great.

Checked and cleaned tires and rims – looking for any small rocks that got in there…. That’s when I realized my pump didn’t work anymore.

Daily Diary

Turned out my front tire was flat, probably because I hooked up that stupid pump and it let all the air out before I figured out it was dead. So….

Tire, bad!

Time to turn around and go back….

Back up and running!

Looked like it was going to be a beautiful day!

Time for a quick stop and a malaria pill. Why not send up the drone?

Funny. This was the terrain for 5 hours.

More of the same. It was really starting to get hot in the sun, but the breeze still felt cool somehow.

At this point the weather is going to get disgusting – well, maybe in the next country or two. There’s just no escaping the tropics. I will soon be longing for 90-degree dry days.

Yeah, I climbed on my bike seat to reach the sign and put a sticker…

Next stop, Windhoek!
