Yeah, in the southern hemisphere, the sun is in the north this time of year. So heading north means you’re riding into the sun constantly. Duh.

It was a good 4 days in Windhoek, but time to move on!

There is absolutely nothing along the way, other than your thoughts!

And some termite mounds. You can see the landscape change before your eyes.

And then, the ocean!

Sand? No thanks.

There was one route that google picked for me that was 118km of a sandy road. There’s nothing more frustrating, and possibly dangerous, than sand. Even two inches is enough to get your front wheel headed in the wrong direction and skidding out from under your bike.
