Table mountain is cool.
Everything you want in a table, and a mountain.
I toured around a bit, but sadly, most of road was closed. I figured I should grab something to eat, so I sat at the restaurant at the top and enjoyed the sun, ate a salad, and got some work done.

I then headed to the other mountain to see if there was anything other than another ocean view. It was the launching pad for the parasailers.

Decent panoramic view though!

I take the best selfies.
Front Parking Lamp Fault
Well, who’s fault is that? The warning started the morning after I left Mthatha. I tried to ignore it because it was just for the parking lamp. Honestly, I didn’t even know which parking lamp was faulty because it appeared to be totally normal. Well, acting out of caution, and because I had some time to kill.
What a fucking dealership and service department!

I showed this guy what was happening and he just took my bike back.

An hour later he came out and said all set! Wait, what? Yes, again this country. The people here are so unbelievable.

Thanks Nicholas! You truly set the standard for the perfect BMW service professional.
He had me back on the road with everything fixed. The backstory is for private conversation only… Never in my life have I had a service experience like this. I remember getting fleeced by the guys in Fairbanks for a chain change and tires.
Hotel
I drove over to my hotel and checked in. The room that I booked apparently had a maintenance issue, so they gave me a different room. It was a suite – for $56 in Cape Town.

I decided to grab some dinner, so I headed to a place that had some pretty good reviews and some local, but eclectic cuisine. I ran into a guy named Stewart on the way after sneaking a peak at this bike parked inside a pub.

We chatted for a bit, and he said if there’s anything I needed he’s not working full time right now so I should give him a shout if something comes up! Yeah, this story is getting old, right? Never!
Onwards….

Paloma cocktail – I love grapefruit juice.

Oysters the size of half an avocado.

Prawn dumplings with toasted pepper oil.

Dried beef tostadas with avocado cream. All for $40 with tip.
I went back to the hotel and followed up on some emails and passed out sometime after 12….
Overall, Cape Town seemed a little more modern than in 1995, but still kind of the same. I don’t remember there being so much grit and crime, but I’m not sure the full changes of 1994 had taken hold at that point.
